Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire (February 27, 2010 - Toronto ON). Pointe Claire is an unassuming community that is located on the West Island, which is part of the Montreal island. For those who don't know, the West Island frequently think that it's a separate island somewhere west of Montreal However, in reality it's a part of the city that's west. West Island is home to every aspect of the town of Lachine west. Many times, it is credited as the place of birth for Amanda Brugel but while that may be true, her time there was short. Brugel grew in Courtice located just outside of Oshawa. The first goal she had was to be a dancer but an increase in her height meant she literally outgrew her dance partner. In a report by Toronto Star, she revealed that in heels she was at 6'1 inches tall. When I grew out of male companions, I stopped. Some former dancers switch into acting. In Brugel's case it was the nudge of a high school drama teacher who encouraged her to go in the right direction. It was suggested that she try out for roles in the school's production. She was the teacher who suggested that she take on a part in the school's annual show. This resulted in the award of a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship at York University where she attended the Theater Program and graduated with the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in the year 2000. Over the past 20 years that followed, Brugel has landed roles in over 60 shows on the big and small screens receiving the most media attention, when she landed the role of Rita in the award-winning show The Handmaid's Tale (pictured below). Brugel, the only Canadian in the season 1 cast of the show and only seen occasionally was the only Canadian.
